Last Updated: October 10, 2026. Please read these terms carefully before utilizing ScanCheck services or client software.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing, downloading, or using the ScanCheck web app or mobile application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the application.
2. Public Safety Informational Utility
ScanCheck is an informational reference utility designed to assist consumers in identifying potential safety notices. ScanCheck aggregates data from public government portals including CPSC SaferProducts.gov and openFDA.
IMPORTANT NOTICE & NO GUARANTEE OF EXHAUSTIVENESS
Zero results or a "Verified Clean" status does not constitute a legal certification or medical guarantee that a product is 100% free of defects, allergens, or undeclared hazards. Manufacturers report recalls voluntarily, and catalog data may be delayed. Always inspect product packaging and check official manufacturer websites.
3. Modular Food & Health Disclaimer (Phase 2+)
Information provided regarding state chemical legislation (e.g. California AB 418 or AB 2762) is based on deterministic text analysis of publicly disclosed ingredient panels. ScanCheck does not perform laboratory chemical assays. You should consult healthcare professionals regarding acute allergies and medical decisions.
4. SafeVault & Document Storage (Phase 3+)
Proof-of-purchase receipts, return deadlines, and warranty timelines generated in SafeVault are processed locally for consumer organization. Users remain solely responsible for retaining physical receipts and verifying retailer return policies.
5. Open Source License
ScanCheck client code is released under the MIT License. THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
Democratic, zero-friction product safety and recall screening for everyday shoppers and parents.
100% Zero Telemetry
Zero Trackers

Disclaimer: ScanCheck is an independent public safety utility not affiliated with or endorsed by CPSC, FDA, or any government agency. Recall data is aggregated from public government APIs. Always verify urgent recalls and remedies at CPSC.gov or with manufacturers.
