Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 10, 2026. ScanCheck is architected with a strict zero-telemetry boundary.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
ScanCheck does not collect, transmit, store, or sell:
• Your personal identity, name, or phone number.
• Your device identifiers (IDFA, GAID, IMEI, MAC address).
• Your GPS, Wi-Fi, or cellular network location.
• Your camera video stream or raw photos.
2. Camera Permission & On-Device Processing
When you grant camera access, frames are processed in volatile device memory solely to locate and decode 1D/2D barcodes (UPC-A, EAN-13, DataMatrix). No camera frames or video recordings are stored to disk or transmitted across any network.
3. Network Calls to Public Safety Endpoints
When you scan a barcode or enter a product ID, a clean query is sent directly to public government endpoints (saferproducts.gov or api.fda.gov) over HTTPS. These queries contain only the product identifier and user-agent string required by HTTP standards.
4. Local Storage & SafeVault Data
All scan history, tracked inventory, receipts, and warranty countdowns are stored locally on your device in private application storage (expo-sqlite). You retain complete ownership and can delete your history at any time with one tap.
